DLXSF Launches New Website

Ok, I know this happened a while ago, but I can’t get over the new website Deluxe Distribution (DLXSF) launched.

See, in addition to Sublimited I also own a web design firm so when I see skate companies building websites that are actually good I get excited.

If you pay attention to studies on website credibility then you would know that there are two principal things you can do to increase the credibility, and therefore popularity, of any website. Those two things are design and frequently updated content, and the DLXSF website has both.

I’m sure the design could be better, but I’m not sure how. It’s pretty good. They use Flash intelligently instead of the way people used it five years ago such that it adds to the experience instead of being an inconvenience. The site just looks good. It looks like someone who knew what they were doing did it. Their old site looked good too, by the way, but this is more usable in my opinion.

And they keep the content updating all the time. I think there’s something new almost every day on the homepage. This keeps people coming back to see what’s new all the time, and the more people come back the more the marketing and branding takes hold, and that means more business for the DLXSF companies.

And so I say “Excelsior to you, sirs.” Good job.

BTW – My favorite part is the video clips, of course. Check out the mini-ramp session. Busenitz is the mini-ramp champ.

But for the record, there are a few things that could be improved on the site. One issue is that the way they’ve got it all set up with popups it means you can’t bookmark pages and it also means they’re not going to show up in search engines. DLXSF might care nothing about search engines, but the usability factor of not being able to bookmark pages or send your friend a link to a certain page is an issue I would resolve if I were them.
