DC Shoes and Clothing Coming Soon

Ok, just got the call from Mike at DC Shoes and I’m approved to place orders and start selling stuff. I’ve bought the domain www.dcshoesclothing.com and I’m going to set up a Yahoo! Store and start selling stuff there first.

The site will be exclusively DC product. I’ll probably set up a few of these types of websites where each one will be specifically geared for a certain brand. The stores are cheap to set up and run ($50 setup fee, $99 per month), and since I run a web design agency I can get good deals on some killer design (that’s code for “I’m going to design the site myself”).

Before you get excited and decide to go get a Yahoo store yourself and start selling stuff, remember that you have to get DC to sell to you, and that’s the harder part. I think the only reason I got approved for this is because I’m going to be opening a physical store soon.

Also, there’s a minimum order of a couple grand worth of stuff, and you have to pay cash up front. It’s not like you can go get five pairs of shoes at wholesale prices for you and your friends. Unless you’re really going into business they’re not going to sell to you.

I’m sorta confused. So if you open this eCommerce store you can only sell stuff that has been approved or the venders want to sell to you. There’s no basic way to order bulk shipments of product?
The way I see it to open a physical store which sells alot of varieties of skating goods would take awhile for the approvals and what not.

I’m not sure I understand the questions…whether or not I have a physical store I can only sell what I’ve been approved to sell, right?

I can order bulk shipments, but only from those vendors who have approved my dealer app, of course. Right now I’ll be ordering in bulk from DC, and if things go well with this first online store I might start other online stores dedicated to an individual brand. So the next thing might be a DVS store, then a Matix store, then a Real store, etc. Actually, I’m already approved for Real and all their brands, but I think it will be easier to start out with DC because of its broad appeal.

All my apps have been turned in for over a month now, I’m hoping to have everything approved to go for all these companies within a month or so.

How did this project go? I noticed the website is not active anymore?
